At Kinected Moves, we can offer another non-invasive, drug-free neural stimulation programme called Brain Gym. There is no testing involved and no prescribed programme. The activity is based on a selection of 24 movements designed to integrate the whole brain, senses and body to aid the learning process.

Movement is the door to learning!

Brain Gym is a movement-based educational programme that involves activity based on a selection of 24 movements. These movements have been devised by the Educational Kinesiology programme which uses simple movement to integrate the whole brain, senses and body, providing the person with the physical skills they need to learn effectively.

The Brain Gym Programme

Educational Kinesiology and Brain Gym movements are the result of many years of research into learning and brain function by Paul E. Dennison PhD, an educationalist from the United States. Paul had experienced learning difficulties as a child and this drove him to develop an interactive model of learning techniques which would have universal application no matter what the starting point of the learner. The Brain Gym movements help activate the neural pathways that enable children and adults to integrate both hemispheres of the brain to enhance optimal learning.

Who can benefit from Brain Gym?

Brain Gym was originally created to help children and adults with learning challenges, for example dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD but it has evolved to be used to improve functioning and life quality by people from all walks of life from education to the arts, business, healthcare , sport and personal development. It can be used to improve a wide range of learning, attention and behavioural skills. It is now used in over 50 countries of the world and is recognised as a safe, effective and innovative educational and self development too. The movements are easy to learn and perform and once learned are a resource for life.

How does it work?

The Brain Gym movements can improve sensory integration and information processing in the brain and body and this will benefit the person or child if they have problems with academic skills such as reading, writing, spelling and mathematics. The movements can help with memory, concentration and focus.

Brain Gym has also been effective in improving physical co-ordination and balance which in turn helps the vestibular system which can improve language development and communication skills.

A further bi-lateral integration method offered at Kinected Moves is the Ronnie Gardiner Method.

What is the Ronnie Gardiner Method?

The Ronnie Gardiner Method is a multi-sensory exercise method designed to help people with diseases and injuries of the brain and the central nervous system - using music, rhythm and movement the method optimises the condition of the brain in general, stimulates neuro-plasticity and promotes the harmony of the natural patterns of the human body and senses.

Who can benefit from the Method?

For more than 20 years the Ronnie Gardiner Method (RGM) has been used in Swedish hospitals, rehabilitation centres and practices as part of health care programmes for patients with brain damage and conditions of the central nervous system such as stroke, MS, dementia, and Parkinson's disease. The method has also been effective for children and adults with learning and concentration issues ( dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD) and for burn-out and/or depression. The intention of the method is to have fun!
